SUMMARY:Manpasand 4th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Manpasand Life celebrated its 4 year on 13th Aug 2016. To mark this occasion we decided to involve our teachers in the celebration to appreciation their efforts and consistent support to Manpasand Life. \nThe teachers created a collage on what Manpasand Life means for them\, by coloring\, cutting up old magazines etc… on a big chart paper. Expressing their feelings and struggles in collage. \nIt was great bonding exercise for the Manpasand Life Team.

SUMMARY:Handmade card making for our Donors
DESCRIPTION:On 3rd August 2016 our old students came back to the center to decorate and make personalized “Thank you “cards for the 4th Anniversary of Manpasand life. The cards were sent to all our Donors who have helped us in our journey of 4 years as a token of appreciation from the students. \nAlthough the names of the donors and the names of the students were kept anonymous it was an exercise of gratitude for everyone at Manpasand Life. We hope the personalized gratitude shared in those handmade cards made our donors feel appreciated.

SUMMARY:Drama workshop
DESCRIPTION:On the June 14th 2016 we had a Drama orientation for our students at our center. It was a mixed class of different age groups. This was done by a volunteer Ms. Chetna Malhotra. She uses drama and movement as a method to encourage better expression. \nThis exercise was a fun workshop where the students were encouraged to participate in different ways .Through this drama workshop we hope to loosen everyone up a little bit and get them to express freely. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying themselves like little children!!

SUMMARY:Westside Visit
DESCRIPTION:On June 7th 2016 we took our students for a visit to Westside (the departmental store). \nThe students were accompanied by a few of our volunteers. They had to converse with the Westside sales staff in English pretending they are buying something. \nThe Westside staff was extremely helpful\, they made sure our students had a positive experience. The purpose of this exercise was to give the students a chance to practice what they had learnt in their Spoken English class and also to give them the confidence to be able to converse to strangers in English. \nAfter the interaction the students and volunteers enjoyed a cup of coffee with eats at the cafeteria in West Side. This was an exciting new experience for the students!!!

SUMMARY:English Speaking Open house
DESCRIPTION:Our Spoken English students don’t get enough practice to speak in English after they finished their course with us. This is because they go back to an environment where they don’t have an opportunity to practice speaking English. \nWe decided to do conduct an open house where the students could come voluntarily on a fixed day every two weeks and practice their English through games and activities\, this was different from what they did in their regular classes. The open house was done at the center by Nimisha Vora and our volunteer teacher\, Lina Shah would also help out on alternate Friday’s from 2pm to 4pm. It is all about speaking English with fun and games !!

SUMMARY:Women’s day celebration – motivational games
DESCRIPTION:Women’s Day was celebrated at the Manpasand Life center with our women achievers. \nOur women achievers were appreciated and others were motivated\, everyone celebrated and took pride in being a woman. \nAn interactive activity session with a Quiz was conducted!! \nLaughter was exchanged when we asked thought provoking questions like:- \n\nDefining yourself as an individual\, not the roles that you play as a women.\nGive a one line message to a man.\nWhen was the first time you knew that you were different from a man?\nIf you were given a single day to make a change for all women\, what would it be like what would you change?\n\n  \nWe ended the celebration with snacks and cold drinks with a lot of chattering and impromptu sharing of thoughts and experiences by the students with their teachers.

SUMMARY:Women’s health workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop was organized by our student Ms. Vasanti Rathod in her community at a slum near Minerva Cinema\, Tardeo. \nThe purpose of doing this workshop was to bring awareness amongst the women with regards to their personal hygiene and to help them identify the challenges of menopause and how to deal with them in a positive manner. \nThe Workshop was conducted by our volunteer Ms. Chiral Sheth. A power point presentation was followed by interactive sessions of questions and answers. Here the women could ask questions which they are generally not allowed to address in their own society .This form of communication helps them deal with health issues and Menopause in a more practical way with the scientific understanding of How and Why !!

SUMMARY:Garage sale
DESCRIPTION:The garage sale is a joint event organized by the students and the Manpasand Life Team every 6 months. \nWe put the word out to all friends\, family\, well-wishers and their contacts through Whatsapp and Facebook that collections for a garage sale have started. A varied collection of Items like Clothing for Men and Women\, Sari’s\, Household items\, Children’s clothing and Toys are collected through donations. Manpasand Life Volunteers help us with the sorting\, tagging\, labeling and arranging of all the items. \nThe garage sale is held at the Manpasand Life center. The students are called and informed about the day and time of the sale so they can benefit from it since all items are priced very low. \nThe sale on 24th January was like a shopping mela for the students\, with lots of interaction within the students themselves and with the Manpasand Life Team in a festive fun\, atmosphere. \nThis joint effort is a great bonding exercise for all the students\, the volunteers\, the teachers\, the trustees and well-wishers\, where everyone comes together and contributes in making the Garage sale a success!!!

SUMMARY:Women’s support group
DESCRIPTION:It was noticed that most of our students who were housewives were unable to express themselves during our Spoken English classes. We started a voluntarily support group with the intention to help them communicate better and to think out of the box and develop an “I can” attitude. \nOn 10th August\, 2015\, the first batch comprising of 4 students and conducted by Nimisha Vora started on a weekly basis. The sessions involved activities where they would share life experiences and goal setting which helped them create an alternative thought process. This is an ongoing process. New members join the group as and when identified.
